| Summary | 0000166: ILS -- steerpoint diamond blanked from HUD | ||||
| Description | One of the biggest challenges of foul-weather ILS approach, is keeping spatial awareness of where the airstrip is .. especially when there's crosswind. I often find myself spamming the [I] key to cycle the HSI mode in/out of ILS .. just so I can get a glimpse of the steerpoint diamond. I just watched a youtube video of (a different F-16 simulator) foul weather ILS landing, and I was surprised to see the steerpoint diamond stayed on the HUD, along with the ILS needles. It looked soooo easy, by comparison. Just line up the needles, then put the FPM on the diamond, and keep it together until the runway appears. I'm hearing this is a known bug. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Fly ILS approach, eg. TR#4. Switch to (non-ILS) Nav or Tcn mode. Observe: steerpoint diamond on/near airbase. Switch to ILS-Nav or ILS-Tcn mode. Observe: steerpoint diamond disappears, replaced by ILS needles Expect: see both ILS needles and steerpoint diamond | ||||
