Summary0000183: The ability to dump fuel with Alt-D
DescriptionYou seem to be able to dump fuel from the F-16 by using Alt-D on the keyboard.

This shouldn't be the case as far as I am aware, you cannot dump fuel from an F-16 as it has the potential to land fully laden and therefore has no requirement for a dump switch.
I believe there is no switch in the cockpit to do a fuel dump in any block.
Steps To ReproduceFly in any TE, Campaign, Dogfight etc.... press Alt-D and your fuel magically disappears incrementally. Also noticed the increments are not exact.... (roughly between 200-400lbs at a time).
Additional InformationPeople could use this as an exploit in a dogfight scenario to gain weight advantage, or just simply to gain an unfair advantage on the campaign battlefield in a tactical situation.

Excuse the "Summary" meant ALT-D not Ctrl-D

Edited to "confirmed" as this is known - there's a forum thread posted by, I believe A.S on the subject. Devs pointed out its a much needed keybind for testing, as well as for rejoining an ongoing campaign mission. If you disconnect from a flight, restart BMS and reconnect, you have full fuel again. The keybind is used to reduce fuel to the correct level.

Unsure if there are any plans to address this in terms of preventing cheating in dogfight mode. I'll note here that there are legitimate reasons to use this in dogfight mode, also - such as doing a dogfight with asymmetric weights, for example: give the student a weight advantage over the IP in defensive BFM, for one.

I'm not entirely certain the best way to prevent cheating in dogfight mode is by deleting this callback, but its not my decision to make -just sharing my thoughts.

Sadly as long as BMS is used as a platform for any competition (sa-sim, blazing saddles and others or even a competitive TVT like FO or FL) it can NOT have exploits.... regardless of the convenience for the devs. Plus they are a pretty clever guys who could figure a way of coding or utilizing this as a *bg_dev_mode and not have it included for a final release. I see way more problems than solutions or convenience by leaving this "feature" in.

Dogfighting competitively for turn/speed/altitude/energy advantage over an opponent, Dumping fuel in a TVT to gain advantage in a tight fight. (Not everything is BVR in fact the next FO TVT will more thank likely be Fox2). Dumping huge amounts of fuel to protect a heavy airframe from a less than shiny pilot....and yes...seen many who land heavy with a light airframe..... in a TVT, without dumping fuel and their landing techniques would have them down one airframe. Or having to physically burn that fuel before they can land strategically changes the timing completely for a flight which maybe on intercept or cap. Hot pit refuelling is a strategy too, again used IRL, tankers aren't always the best option.

As long as it is not in the real jet and as long as we are 'simulating' and using it as an accurate and competitive platform it doesn't IMHO belong in BMS. That's my thoughts. Not meaning to directly contradict you Blu, just the other side of the coin, I see the convenience...but my conclusion differs.

Lorik came up with a nice answer.... in the multiplayer connection initialisation screen (RULES OF ENGAGEMENT) have a check box. Can be locked by the host that way, and the opponent can see it's enabled or disabled (like padlocking options, unlimited bullets, etc...) resolves both sides of the coin right there!

Loriks suggestion has merit - that seems like it is different enough to this issue to warrant opening a new issue, as a feature request rather than a bug report?

I support it to be optional. It is a very convenient feature for AAR practice. Take fuel from tanker, disconnect, dump almost all fuel, then rejoin tanker for a full refueling session with turns and what have you. Otherwise you would rejoin tanker with a full tank and only get a very short connect
