| Summary | 0000084: AN/ALR-69 RWR does not display naval contacts | ||||
| Description | The AN/ALR-69 RWR ("avionicsRWRType 2" as per ACdata), used mainly by US F-16s of blocks 15 and 30/32, does not display naval contacts at all. Launch warnings from ships are audible however. -34-1-1 section 1.6.3.2 at page 105 suggests that the AN/ALR-69 RWR will display naval contacts just like the AN/ALR-56M (used by newer blocks). | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Create a TE with an F-16 equipped with AN/ALR-69 and a hostile taskforce. Alternatively, fly the TE I attached, it contains 2xUS F-16s 25nm from Kuznetsov CSG, the northern flight is a blk30 and equipped with AN/ALR-69, southern flight is a blk50 and equipped with AN/ALR-56M. Fly the TE twice as either flight, the blk30's RWR will not show any naval contact, but the launch warning from the CSG's shorter-range missiles will be audible. The blk50's RWR on the other hand will display the ships just fine. | ||||

| The bug persists in 4.35 U1. | |
As it turns out that specific RWR actually can display ship contacts, but you first need to enable ship mode by: -pressing the "system test" button -pressing the "naval button" immediately afterwards This is also documented in the -34 manual on page 105. |
| So, does this mean the RWR is working correctly? Im not seeing the difference between expected behavior vs actual behavior, here. | |
Yes, my mistake, as it turns out the manual explains how to do it a table cell I overlooked. How can I close my report now? I'm not seeing a button for that. |
I've closed the report as "no change required". Thanks for reporting. There should normally be a "close" button at the bottom of the report (above the notes/comments). |
